Fashion designer Telfar Clemens is a digital utilitarian. Instead of targeting the hyper-niches that evolve in a fractured cultural landscape, Clemens' designs—like string-adjustable unisex designs, foldable mobile clothing racks, and a crowdsourced runway presentation for Fashion Week—are intuitive and customizable.
Curating for MOCAtv, Clemens selects three videos that go explore his process and products: footage of an assistant corralling runway props, documentation of hand-dying garments, and a fan-filmed montage of a recent runway show. Like the video works of his collaborator Ryan Trecartin, these videos engage the dialogue between identity and technology, constructing an online version of self and crowdsourcing the narrative of his eponymous clothing line.
